The last week of September ZDHC participated in the 5th edition of the International Conference on Chemicals Management (ICCM5), organised by UNEP and hosted by the government of Germany in Bonn.

At the conference, ZDHC was represented by Dr. Ahmad Ansari who provided input and lent his expertise during the consultation process to build an ambitious Global Chemical Framework Beyond 2020. The high-level segment was covered by  ZDHC Board Chair Francesco Pianca.

On Thursday, the 4th day of ICCM5, ZDHC (represented by Mariella Noto)  officially joined the Gender & Chemicals Partnership.

This partnership is a step towards a more informed approach to sustainable chemical management. It brings together stakeholders from all different sectors: including governments, international organisations, civil society, academic institutions, industry players, and more.

Gender impacts chemical management more than we think. It's important to study how the effect of sustainable chemical management differs by gender, and bring that focus into view so we can develop sustainable solutions.

The outcome of the ICCM5: a Global Chemical Framework, declaration and 12 resolutions,  will strengthen how we manage chemicals and waste globally. These outcomes will support  ZDHC’s vision to create a world where better chemistry leads to the protection of life, land, air, and water.
