ZDHC is proud to collaborate with Canopy to push for Sustainable Chemical Management criteria in MMCF supply chain production. Following the ZDHC MMCF Implementation Approach Guidelines V2.2, the updated Chemical Management Criteria for viscose staple fibres and modal staple fibres will connect into the Canopy Hot Button Report.

In the Canopy Hot Button Report, a green shirt designation is based on the number of buttons allocated to MMCF producers based on their work to eliminate the use of Ancient and Endangered Forests in their supply and to give preference to textiles made from innovative fibres (see criteria).

Through collaboration between ZDHC and Canopy, a chemical management section has been included in the assessment of MMCF manufacturers in the Hot Button Report since 2021 (see Criteria Guide). This year, ZDHC has updated the sustainable chemical management section, where MMCF producers must demonstrate engagement in ZDHC Programmes (MMCF Module) to score chemical management points. The results are shown on the Chemical Management (Chem. Mgmt.). column in the ranking table.

Starting next year, producers will also be evaluated on their chemical recovery, wastewater and air emissions 2023 performance.

PLEASE NOTE: ONLY VISCOSE AND MODAL STAPE FIBRE FACILITIES ARE ASSESSED AND AWARDED POINTS. OTHER FIBRE FACILITIES ARE NOT TAKEN INTO ACCOUNT.
